WORKS to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Coombes Road and Messmate Road have started this week, helping to improve safety for all road users.

The intersection of the two main roads will be closed throughout construction which is estimated to take between six to eight weeks to complete.

“It’s great to see this final part of the Coombes Road upgrade start,” Cr Adrian Schonfelder said.

“Thank you to the community for everyone’s continued patience and cooperation as we complete these important road safety improvements.”

During the works, Coombes Road will be open for local traffic only, and access to all local properties will be maintained.

All through traffic should use Anglesea Road, Surf Coast Highway or Grossmans Road.

“We have noticed a significant drop in non-local traffic using Coombes Road. We appreciate drivers using alternative routes while these important works are underway,” Cr Schonfelder added.
