Works under way on Surf Coast Highway level crossing
The new elevated rail bridge will reduce disruptions to Surf Coast Highway traffic and Geelong Line train services and make room for green open space and bike and pedestrian paths which will connect homes with the rail line.
Other key benefits include reduced construction impacts, reduced future flood events, integration with future Bellarine Link extensions, integration with transport, boost safety and traffic flow and result in motorists no longer needing to wait at the boom gates.
During construction, the Surf Coast Highway will be closed between Baanip Boulevard and the level crossing until Tuesday (September 26).
The new rail bridge and level crossing site developments have been made with complex environmental, community and technical considerations.
