Wrestle Wave wows in Torquay

A STRONG crowd of more than 500 people turned out on Sunday to catch non-stop wrestling action at Wrestlewave in Torquay.
The six-match card at Wurdi Baierr Stadium wowed audiences, with locals stars stealing the show and shock upsets causing plenty of controversy.
Local hero Take Taylor gave the capacity crowd something to cheer about, overcoming Lygon Street enforcer Tony Villani and station-dwelling troublemaker Tyson Reed in a triple threat showcase.

Following the match, country brawler Kayno challenged Taylor to a showdown when OPW returns to Torquay.
In the main event of the afternoon, Jesse Love captured the OPW Championship in controversial fashion, striking opponent Dusk with the championship belt while the referee was distracted.

The crazy ending drew immediate outrage from the Surf Coast crowd at the title heads north to the Gold Coast.
Blacklisted successfully defended the OPW Tag Team Championships against Heaven & Hell with the full support of the Torquay crowd, continuing their reign that began at BaseBrawl in Melbourne.

Tarlee retained the OPW Women’s Championship against Lil’ Marz, while Sketch retained the King of Colac Championship, wowing the crowd with a stunning moonsault to defeat Ben Barnett.
JJ Furno earned a future MCW Intercommonwealth Championship opportunity in a fast-paced encounter with Owen Steadman, securing victory with a spectacular 450 Splash.

WrestleWave is likely to return to Torquay following its success over this past long weekend.
