YOUNG people across the Surf Coast are being asked what matters to them, as the shire starts shaping a new Youth Action Plan for the next four years.

The shire has launched a short online survey for people aged 10 to 25 years to gather insights into their views, ideas and needs to help guide the development of this plan, which will guide the council’s work with young people across areas such as wellbeing, learning, inclusion and more.

To best capture local feedback, three surveys have been made available, each tailored to a different age group: 10–13-year-olds, 14-17-year-olds, and 18-25-year-olds.

“Being a teen today is unlike any other time in history and it’s important we understand young people’s interests and the issues affecting them,” Cr Rebecca Bourke said.

“The plan will help us support young people as they grow and address the issues affecting them where we can.”

She said the shire’s youth team will be visiting schools to encourage young people to fill out the survey and is calling on parents to do the same.

“It only takes about five or so minutes to complete the survey and the more voices we hear from the better.”
