THE broader Surf Coast community banded together on the weekend for Zayli’s Game, raising over $4,400 for the Torquay youngster and her family.
The Surfcoast Basketball Association held a fundraiser and raffle for 8-year-old Zayli King during Sunday’s Surfcoast Chargers action.
Zayli was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and is currently facing the long and daunting journey of extensive operations and chemotherapy at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.

All proceeds from the raffle and a rainbow warriors cake stall supported the cause on the day.
The day of festivities also included a half time mini game featuring Zayli’s team the Rainbow Warriors.
All attendees were encouraged to wear rainbow colours.
Surfcoast Basketball Association secretary Rebecca Lewis said it was a fantastic day of fundraising.
“It was just an amazing turnout, especially for the cake stall which was run by Zayli’s team the Rainbow Warriors.
“We were supported so well by our community, as well as plenty from outside of our basketball circle.
“There was just so many raffle tickets bought, and we feel incredible to be able to do that for Zayli and her family.”
At the time of writing, a GoFundMe to support Zayli and her family was up to $108,400 in donations.
All support will help daily living expenses and financial commitments, allowing the family to fully focus on giving Zayli all the love, strength and support she needs.
