A solo leap INTO SMALL BUSINESS

November 15, 2018 BY

Leopold’s Brendan Russell has combined his passion for being involved in the community with his love for the outdoors to create a local excavation business.

Leopold resident Brendan Russell has been inspired to establish his own excavation business, BKR Excavations, following years of working as a carpenter since leaving high school.

His time spent labouring on building sites saw him gain the skillset needed to operate a wide range of specialised equipment, machinery now responsible for carrying out the services his business venture prides itself on.

“I’ve been a carpenter since leaving school and while working on building sites, I gained the experience of using bobcats and excavators,” he said.

While he’s in the early stages of small business operation, Mr Russell is working alone six days a week.

A lover of the outdoors, Mr Russell hopes to grow his business, which services Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast areas.

“We are based in Leopold and provide post holes, levelling, trenching, retaining walls and landscaping services
through to general carpentry works,” he said.

Having lived in Portarlington for 24 years before making the move to Leopold where he’s lived for the past 10 years, Mr Russell believes his knowledge and love for the community has played a significant role in the establishment of BKR Excavations.

“I have a great knowledge of Geelong and the surrounding areas,” he said.

“I enjoy the community and I love to visit the Great Ocean Road with my family on the weekends.”

Mr Russell is offering free quotes and pensioner discounts to those interested in his services.

At present, he doesn’t have a website or a Facebook page, however is contactable on 0418 536 673.
