Bellarine Agricultural Society names new life members

THE Bellarine Agricultural Society has welcomed two new life members at their recent annual general meeting.

Husband and wife Don and Janet McDonald were recognised for their continued dedication to the society.

Bellarine Agricultural Show Secretary Jenny Banks said the committee was very appreciative to have the pair’s involvement.

“Don and Janet’s commitment to the society has been unwavering over many years and it’s a recognition of not only their commitment in taking on their roles, but their ongoing commitment.”

Don first started with the society as an entrant in the cattle competition before becoming president and stepping into the role of cattle steward.

A number of committee members have said without Don’s direct involvement, knowledge and experience, the cattle section of the show would have been lost years ago.

Janet’s time with the Bellarine Show started when she was supporting Don, before she also took on the role of president, steering the committee through the pandemic.

“They’ve got such knowledge that we can draw on when it comes to planning. They’ve got lots of great ideas and suggestions,” Ms Banks.

“But also helping, making and keeping the show relative in these times as opposed to when they first started.”

The Bellarine Show will return on March 9, 2025.
