Construction of a new play park for kids under way at Sanctuary
With construction in full swing, kids will soon be able to swing and skate, jump and dunk, and run, kick and climb in an elaborate new play park at Villawood Properties Sanctuary community.
The park, within Sanctuary’s second stage, is now under construction in the tranquil green enclave adjoining Armstrong Creek.
It is the latest in a series of top-line parks that are a hallmark of award-winning Villawood’s communities.
The park will contain an awesome array of activities designed specifically to provide a healthy play experience for kids, many of whom are often distracted from fun exercise by computer games.
Sprawling play equipment, a climbing net and quad swing, an imitation dried creek bed, a kick-about area, basketball half-court, skate wall, shelters and seating are just some of the park’s features.
The new Sanctuary park has been designed by the highly acclaimed Tract landscape architects and urban designers.
It joins a stellar list of community parks created by Villawood, including its Armstrong Club district park and its pirate ship park at Point Cook’s Alamanda community, one of the most famous playgrounds and tourist attractions in Melbourne.
Villawood recently took out the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s coveted Best Master Planned Community Award for its Armstrong Mount Duneed Estate.
The developer’s community imperative is again apparent in the park at Sanctuary, with its trademark lifestyle and green attributes.
Sanctuary stage two will see existing trees retained and landscaping undertaken by Geelong based BC Gardens, in keeping with Villawood’s brand values of utilising the local workforce.
“Kids arriving at Sanctuary will be able to play in a terrific, engaging and healthy park that is one of the very best around,” Villawood Properties executive director Rory Costelloe said.
“Great parks are an integral part of Villawood’s desire to help build communities, not just estates, where families can interact with each other and build relationships through healthy exercise and social interaction.
“Sanctuary is a very special place and arguably the best-kept secret at Armstrong.
“It is a quiet, green-surrounded enclave closely connected to the attractive Armstrong Creek and its myriad flora and fauna assets.”
The 391-lot Sanctuary precinct is sited on Burvilles Road with ready access to amenities including schools, shopping and sports, as well as the Surf Coast.
Lots have been set aside within the estate exclusively for Geelong’s care workers in a bid by Villawood to ensure housing remains affordable for the vital community sector.
Stage two and the new park are scheduled for completion in May.
