Custom design homes in style with Hotondo

February 26, 2018 BY

Hotondo’s custom design build in Boston Road Torquay for local identities, Rohan and Kirsty Pertzel, was a process they couldn’t have been happier with.

PJ Scott Hotondo Homes Torquay have been creating dream homes for their clients for more 30 years, specialising in custom designs that last for generations.

Combining a lifetime of building experience from director Peter Scott and his team, Hotondo Homes Torquay ensures the clients vision for that perfect home becomes a reality.

One of Hotondo Homes most recent custom design projects in Boston Road Torquay for local business owners, Rohan and Kirsty Pertzel, is the perfect example of how effective collaboration between the builder, design team and the client, can deliver an amazing home.

To achieve this, it all starts with a briefing session with the clients to understand their needs and objectives, says Hotondo’s sales consultant and design team leader Peter Walker.

“With the Boston Road townhouse, Rohan and Kirsty explained that they were looking for a light-filled home that was luxurious and glamorous, with a focus on generous entertaining areas with an industrial look to the exterior.

“As well as the clients’ wishes, the other influences on my design decisions were a complex list of site restrictions, the realities of a very small townhouse footprint, the sun angles and the outlook.”

The team at Hotondo Homes found the project both enjoyable and a creative challenge that brought all of the design criteria to a balanced result, which was appreciated by the very happy clients.

“We couldn’t be happier with the result, from start to finish, the whole process ran very smoothly, we couldn’t fault anything, they all knew their stuff,” Kirsty said.

“From the moment we sat down to talk design with Peter Walker to the day we moved in was just great.

“Peter listened to what we wanted and challenged us on why we wanted certain things, and offered new suggestions that were great, it really made us think about exactly what we wanted.

“Peter Scott and his team were very helpful throughout the entire process which just made the build so much easier.

“Darren Seabert the building supervisor, built the house we wanted, he was integral to ensuring that the end result was better for us.”

With any project, it is essential to factor in the structural cost aspects of the design through collaboration with the builder to ensure creative ideas are budget conscious.

There are times when the structural complexity of custom design implications need evaluating to ensure the project comes in on budget.

This is where Hotondo Homes Torquay principal Peter Scott’s experience comes in, Mr Walker said.

“Peter works closely with the design team to keep to budget, sometimes it can be as simple as suggesting standard building elements where possible, however in this case, many elements were bespoke from our more specialist suppliers.

“I’m delighted to say that the clients were supportive of my original concept design with only a few tweaks required to bring the final design to fruition and then onto the build.

“I feel grateful to have been part of the team that built Rohan and Kirsty’s home,” Mr Walker said.
