Dulux’s autumn colours for 2019

April 11, 2019 BY

Dulux has released its autumn colour trends, suggesting a rusticluxe look with rich, natural hues and mid-tone timbers will create the perfect new season ambience.

From being outdoors in the summer warmth to cosying up at home as the weather cools, Dulux colour expert Andrea Lucena-Orr says the aim is to create warm, joyful spaces that nurture and inspire.

Try to shift away from dark colours and instead use warm timber, honeyed leathers and an abundance of natural light to transform the mood of any room in your house.

This season’s new neutral, soft greygreen, with shades of olive, dusty pink, and refreshing accents of rich, bluegreen and ochre create a luxurious yet nature inspired feel.

“Repair”, one of four key palettes in the 2019 Dulux Colour Forecast, is Lucena Orr’s favourite palette of the year so far.

“Repair is my favourite palette of 2019,” she said.

“Its rich greens and accent of burnished gold feels comforting and uplifting. Together, they create a wonderful backdrop for interesting collections and spaces that tell a story.

The colours are drawn from nature and plug into our collective desire to slow down and reconnect with the natural world.

“Striking combinations, such as verdant green, chocolate, umber and sienna set a playful, optimistic tone, while soft, green-based grey has emerged as the neutral – and the ideal pairing for these nature-based hues.”

A feature wall in rich green, bluegreen or subtle grey-green is the foundation of creating a colour contrast, the perfect opportunity to incorporate more vibrant colours such as terracotta, chocolate or burnt orange in varying amounts.

Layering up on texture and wall hangings by featuring aged leather, velvets and block prints will tie together the space, as well as floor lamps and greenery such as a potted long-leaf fig tree.
