Fancy mansion party to raise funds for hospital appeal
WINCHELSEA Hospital will host a glitzy masquerade ball later this year as part of a fundraiser to replace its auxiliary op shop that was destroyed by a fire.
The October fundraiser at Barwon Park Mansion will feature a tour of the famous old residence, auction events and a night of entertainment from local and nationally renowned performers.
In its promotion of the event, Hesse Rural Health described the event as “a night of indulgence, elegance and humour” that will encourage guests to wear black tie attire and don an elaborate mask.
“Starting on the front lawn of Barwon Park from 5pm with a welcome drink and the musical talents of the Geelong College String Quartet, followed by a tour of the mansion and photo opportunities before entering the marquee to eat, drink and dance the night away.
“The night will feature the humour of Channel 7 entertainer and personality, John ‘Deeksy’ Deeks and the musical talents of Chunky Jam.
“Elders auctioneer Peter Linderman is sure to take our live auction to new heights and present several once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to bid on.
“Ticket price includes a three-course meal catered by Lady & the Fox, drinks, parking, entertainment and a donation to the Op Shop Rebuild Appeal.”
The former Hopsital Auxiliary Op Shop opposite Winchelsea Primary School burned down in November 2020.
Hesse Rural Health has earmarked the former Orchard bakery at 44-46 Main Street for its new permanent home.
The proposal has planning support from Surf Coast Shire Council, but is just over halfway towards its $400,000 fundraising goal to refurbish the building for an expanded op shop.
The ball will start at Barwon Park Mansion at 5pm on Saturday, October 28.
Tickets to the event are capped at 300 seats, with all proceeds to go towards the Hesse Rural Health Op Shop Rebuild Appeal.
The event cost is $3,000 for a table of 10.
Hesse Rural Health is also calling out for sponsors interested in supporting the event.
