Laying out tables withstyle
Metricon Homes recently held a Table Styling Masterclass for Mother’s Day at its newly refurbished Studio M design centre on Melbourne Road in Geelong.
Studio M is home to a vast array of internal and external products, materials and finishes, as well as inspirational images, mood boards, and kitchen and bathroom fitouts, to help customers make the right decisions when fitting out their home. It’s also the perfect venue to host some of Metricon’s special events.
At the evening event, guests learnt how to create a table setting for the perfect Mother’s Day lunch or dinner. Host Chris Carroll, the interior stylist, presenter and author behind TLC Interiors, shared his inspiration and tips for a simple yet stylish table setting, alongside Metricon’s senior interior designer Jacinta Evans.
“We were delighted to open up Metricon’s Studio M to celebrate Mother’s Day,” Evans said.
“It’s a special day for mums of all ages, and this masterclass gave guests practical table styling tips they were able to take away and use to impress their mums.”
The masterclass focused on table styling with a rustic Australian theme, and Carroll shared some ideas with the enthusiastic audience on how to achieve the look using Salt&Pepper’s Nomad range of homewares, made up of
eclectic, hand-crafted pieces. The theme incorporated earthy tones and rustic timbers to create a timeless elegance,
and Carroll encouraged guests to think outside the box – for instance, using chopping boards as placemats.
To bring their table setting to life, guests were then treated to a presentation from local florist Peony & Weasel Flower Co. The talented florist shared handy tips on how to create unique floral arrangements, such as opting for flowers that vary in tone, shape and size, and then incorporating a variety of foliage to add interest and structure.
Guests also took part in a posy-making workshop, where they had fun creating their own arrangements and take-home jars.
“The positive feedback from guests on the evening was very encouraging,” Metricon regional west manager Simon Taylor said.
“Events like this not only allow us to help our customers celebrate special occasions in style, but also to develop their confidence in the styling and design of their new homes,” Mr Taylor concluded.
