Lorne record smashed by Great Ocean Road marvel
A STUNNING oceanfront property has met price its lofty $8-million-plus price hopes and sold in a deal believed to be a suburb record for Lorne.
1193 Great Ocean Road, Big Hill changed hands this week shortly after offers closed on Wednesday, with interstate buyers snapping up the exclusive property.
While the final price is undisclosed, Great Ocean Properties director Marty Maher indicated the property sold within the advertised price range of between $8 million-$8.5 million – meaning the sale surpassed the previous Lorne record of $7.25 million at 1 Roadknight Street, Lorne.
“This was the exceptional result that the property deserved. We had formed a strong relationship with the vendors over time to get the property, the process and the campaign just right to allow for this to occur. Both our vendors and the buyers are delighted,” Mr Maher said.
“This sale indicates that despite the cautious sentiment at present there are still buyers with capability looking for the right opportunity. They are generally incredibly fussy though and you need to build confidence from the outset so that they are comfortable to proceed.”
The Lorne home is one of just nine properties on the ocean side of the iconic coastal highway, with its restricted location proving access to an as-good-as-private beach and stunning views across the surf breaks and Otways cliff faces.
It is set on approximately 5,533 square metres (1.3 acres) and has crown land allotments on either side to ensure ongoing privacy.
The Edgard Pirrotta-designed home is also designed for refined luxury and to take in the world-class views from all directions, while retaining earthy features that make it feel part of its secluded surroundings.
