Old Torquay beauty retains coastal charm
A slice of Old Torquay has been snapped up by eager buyers within days of its listing and before reaching an open house on Saturday.
8 Follett Street, Torquay went under contract on the weekend ahead of a planned walkthrough on Saturday morning, with its ideal location and beautiful presentation blowing away its new owners.
The property sold for an undisclosed figure, but agents indicated the final price was above the initial asking price of around $2.2 million.
McCartney Real Estate director Tim Carson said the result was indicative on the continued strength of Surf Coast real estate despite industry headwinds impacting other markets across the country.
“We put it on the market on the Thursday, we had some interest really early from three different buyers,” he said.
“In the end, it ended up making over the asking price.
“The reason being it was beautifully presented in a great location. Properties in that location are really hard to come by, and that’s what these buyers realised.
“The people who bought it are from Melbourne. They’ve been looking for some time and as soon as it came up they jumped on it.”
The three-bedroom home had been pitched to buyers for its location within 500 metres from Fishermans Beach and walking distance to parks and cafes while enjoying ocean views from its first-floor balcony.
