Research from RACV has revealed that almost two thirds of Australians are struggling to pay their energy bills.

A nationwide poll shows that 80 per cent have slashed their spending to cover energy costs with electricity becoming the biggest bill.

Australians have cut back their spending on clothes, groceries, dining out, weekends away and entertainment to pay energy costs.

As Australians stress about energy bill blowouts, it’s more important now than ever that we find ways to reduce energy consumption and power bills.

Sustainable House Day is a national day to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of Sustainable House Design.

Run by the ATA (Alternative Technology Association), the day sees people across Australia opening their homes to the public in the spirit of inspiring, educating and sharing new sustainable technologies and ideas.

This year, RACV will be opening doors to the RACV Tiny Home.

Packed with big ideas, the RACV Tiny Home showcases the best design and features that can help us get the most out of our homes, new or old.

It’s backed by smarter technology which allows householders to stay on top of their energy consumption as they live more efficiently.

Manager of Divisional Programs RACV Home Bess Nolan-Cook says, “We want people visiting the RACV Tiny Home to be inspired by great ideas that they can apply to their own homes that will make a real difference to their cost of living”.

Surf Coast locals are invited to visit the RACV Tiny Home as part of Sustainable House Day 2018.

The event will feature live music, seedling planting and talks from industry heavy weights, including Tiny Home architect and Grand Designs Australia host, Peter Maddison, who will be discussing the importance of good design.

The family friendly event will take place at RACV Torquay Resort on Sunday September 16 from 10am to 3pm.
