Torquay auction success

February 9, 2018 BY

THE weekend auction of two properties in Torquay and one in Jan Juc saw all sold within the expected price range, giving confidence that the region is holding strong on the back of a market correction in most capital cities.

With about 60 people in attendance, Hayden’s first auction on Saturday at 86B Beach Road saw four bidders enter the action after the first bid of $630,000 to see this modern three-bedroom beach home sold to a Torquay buyer for $715,000.

Next off the blocks for Hayden Real Estate was another Torquay property at 6 Sand Dune Rise, which saw more than 70 people in attendance, with two bidders entering the auction from a starting bid of $750,000 to see Melbourne-based buyers secure the property for an undisclosed price.

Hayden director Patrick Hayden said there was a great deal of inquiry in the lead up to both auctions.

“As soon as the campaigns kicked off we had potential buyers calling to book inspections,” he said.

“Demand for well-presented homes in Torquay continues to remain high as investors, retirees, first home buyers and seachangers continue to compete in this popular market.”

McCartney Real Estate’s auction of 10 Dunkeith Avenue in Jan Juc was well attended after seeing 60 groups inspect the property throughout the campaign.

Kicking off with a vendor bid of $700,000, two main bidders pushed the price to $733,000, where it was then negotiated to $745,000 and sold to a young couple from Melbourne moving to Jan Juc for a seachange.

McCartney sales consultant Steve Menegazzo said Jan Juc properties were highly sought-after due to the unique style of coastal living on offer away from the hustle and bustle of town.

“We always receive a huge amount of interest in Jan Juc listings, with this property receiving hundreds of inquiries before auction.”
