What’s On At Armstrong: A Ninja Cats challenge

August 29, 2018 BY

CHILDREN and parents who came to the School of Greatness at Armstrong Oval back in April will remember putting their Geelong Cats fan skills to the test.

They graduated with certificates testifying to their cheer squad barracking, pie-eating, football marking, the famous “We Are Geelong” theme song and face-painting.

Urging them on were Cats players Jackson Thurlow, Rhys Stanley and Gryan Miers, together with club mascot Half Cat.

Now, at the other end of the season, two more Cat superstars have swapped places with the young’uns and put their skills to the test at Armstrong.

Mitch Duncan and Cam Guthrie have put themselves through the rigours of an Armstrong District Park obstacle course for a special Ninja Cats challenge.

The pair face off against each other in several events – climbing, clambering and scrambling over ladders and slides and ropes – in the Villawood Properties Armstrong Ninja Cats Challenge.

It’s not the first Villawood Properties challenge Cats stars have taken part in at Armstrong.

Last year, Harry Taylor and Andrew Mackie competed against one another in a skills and stamina challenge in the Club Armstrong gym, on the tennis court and kicking for goal at Armstrong Oval.

It’s fair to say it wasn’t the most level of playing fields as the two pranked each other through the contest – they even threw Villawood boss Rory Costelloe in the Club Armstrong pool.

This time around, the Cats stars are showing a similar competitive nature out on the $2.6 million adventure park. And it’s tough. One of the Cat stars even concedes: “I’m not that flexible, I’m ageing”.

But, of course, there can only be one winner.
