Winchelsea sees value
WITH the tree-change town of Winchelsea on the watchlist for buyers looking for the hinterland lifestyle, the team at McCartney Real Estate is off to a great start with their new agency hitting the ground running.
The dedicated Winchelsea office is led by experienced rural, residential and lifestyle real estate specialist Geoff Bennett.
Mr Bennett said the office was fielding a lot of enquiry from the Surf Coast, the Bellarine and Greater Geelong as people realise the value in Winchelsea.
“Together with accessibility to the Surf Coast, and of course Waurn Ponds and Geelong via the dual highway, Winchelsea is firmly on the map for investors and homebuyers,” Mr Bennett said.
“We had a ripper auction last week after a five-week marketing campaign, where we took 5 McDonald Drive to the market.
“The property is situated in one of Winchelsea’s most popular streets and as one of the few houses backing straight onto the Barwon River, interest was expected to be strong.”
In front of a crowd of about 40 people the auctioneer, Geoff Bennett, presented the property to the market with the assistance of John McMahon and Graeme McCartney.
Bidding quickly intensified as four parties exchanged bids until the property was declared on the market at $ 413,000.
Two bidders continued to fight it out, with the property knocked down to the winning bidder for $426,500.
“This sale is yet another sign of the growing popularity of Winchelsea with our office selling two other properties for excellent prices in the week prior,” Mr Bennett said.
McCartney Real Estate established the branch office in Winchelsea late last year and has been delighted with the support of local sellers, landlords and buyers.
The office’s slogan is “Winchelsea – The Place To Be!”.
