EPIC Health team

It has undoubtedly been a busy time for the EPIC Health clinics in Marketplace and Wallington Road, Ocean Grove.

As the health of our local community is EPIC Health’s key mission, the team has also grown to meet the demands as they welcome new team member, Dr Thomas Souchen.

Originally from Canada with a background as a biomedical engineer, Dr Tom moved to Australia 10 years ago to pursue his career in medicine.

He spent four years in Queensland, and when he met his partner who was from East Gippsland, completed his training throughout Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula.

Now a Fellowed GP, Dr Tom is involved in all aspects of general medical practice.

Recently, Tom, his partner and their two-year-old daughter moved to Ocean Grove.

“It’s a wonderful community to raise a family,” he said.

“We’ve bought a house and hope to be a part of this community for a very long time.”

Dr Tom is passionate about taking care of the community he lives in, which is how his move to EPIC Health came about.

Along with general medical practice, Tom has an interest in urgent care and is involved in after-hours urgent care treatment at Western Health once a week and three nights a week at Marketplace.

He treats all ages and areas with special interest in chronic disease management, paediatrics, sports injuries and mental health.

He has also been involved in the COVID response testing and vaccination clinic in Wallington Road.

Of the team at EPIC Health, Tom says “they’re a lovely group of people to be working with”.

Outside of work, you might find Tom honing his surfing skills, fishing or playing golf.

“It’s been a challenging time to move somewhere new. Thankfully, we have made some new friends through my wife’s mother’s group,” he said.

But knowing what he does of Ocean Grove so far, he feels they will love being a part of the community.

Tom joins a team of caring and understanding doctors who are dedicated to health promotion and treating your medical needs.
