THE Geelong Cats has bolstered their AFLW ruck stocks after securing the signature of former Australian volleyballer Caitie Tipping.

The 24-year-old has signed for three seasons, tying her to the hoops until at least the end of 2027.

Standing at 191cm tall, Tipping is a multi-sport athlete who most recently played for the Linköping Volleyboll Club in Sweden.

Before switching codes to AFLW, Tipping was on a scholarship at the University of South Alabama in the USA and also played competitive soccer as a goalkeeper.

Geelong Cats assistant general manager of football Brett Johnson welcomed Tipping to her new career as an AFLW footballer.

“We are excited to welcome Caitie to the Cats,” he said.

“She’s an exceptional athlete that will only continue to develop in the AFLW environment.

“We believe Caitie is the perfect addition to our ruck and key position stocks.

“A very talented volleyballer, our program staff will get to work to ensure she has all the preparation she needs to hit the ground running before joining the team for the commencement of pre-season.”
