SURFCOAST Chargers are gearing up for another Big V season with senior men’s and women’s teams as well as youth league men’s and women’s sides.

Both youth league outfits have round one on Sunday, March 16, before the seniors tip off on March 22.

There will be quadruple-header against Southern Peninsula Sharks at Wurdi Baierr Stadium on March 22 which is also the club’s season launch.

Alongside food, drink and entertainment, there will activities for kids.

“We’re really wanting to make it a family-friendly day so everyone will be able to bring their kids along and watch some great games of basketball across the day … it’s all about making it a fun day at the basketball,” Surfcoast Basketball Association president Leon Sayers said.

The action starts at 1:30pm before concluding with the senior men’s game at 7:30pm.

The men will be aiming to go one better this season under new coach Dan Riches.

They made the division two grand final last year and Sayers said they were looking good again.

“There’s just over half of the team from last year with a couple of top-up players to strengthen us with some height and strength under the ring,” he said.

Stef Grayson will again lead the women after their finals run in division two in 2024.

The youth men, under new coach Greg Smith, will take on their third season in the newly-created division three this season after playing in division two last year.

The youth league women, coached by Craig Jarvis, are preparing for their second campaign after their inaugural season in division two.
