American football on the hunt for talent

March 27, 2018 BY

The Geelong Buccaneers American Football Club is on the lookout for senior talent, with the Club recruitment day coming up after Easter.  The Buccaneers play gridiron against teams from across Victoria and welcome new players who may be considering switching from other sports.  This year the club is moving to a purpose built gridiron/rugby facility in Corio, funded by the City of Greater Geelong.  The Buccaneers are creating a fun, family environment for the Geelong community to enjoy.

They field a junior team as well and are encouraging junior members to pursue further football opportunities, like former player Euan Spikers who now plays high school football in Virginia, USA.  Buccaneers President Melissa O’Toole encourages players to come and try out, even if you have only seen gridiron on the Superbowl.  “The diversity of our players and supporters is what makes our club great – there’s a role for everyone to play, and we encourage all styles of player to consider trying out.”

Prospective senior players should attend the tryouts on Wednesday April 4th.  More details on the Buccaneer Facebook page.
