Ammos punch ticket to grand final with win over Torquay
TORQUAY was in the front seat with one quarter to play against Geelong Amateur, but a 15-7 final term in favour of Ammos was enough to get the 49-44 win over the reigning premiers.
A huge 43-goal effort from shooter Ruby Watson caused all sorts of headaches for keeper Jessica Standfield and Tigers coach Sonia Harris.
Geelong’s Darcy McFarlane also chipped in with six goals capping off a tremendous final term, whereas Georgia Duncan and Celeste Mitton received special mentions for their performances.
Daisy O’Kane and Keisha Guilmartin locked horns in a terrific matchup of grit, as O’Kane managed 29 goals in the contest.
Rhian Moresi finished the day with seven goals, while Julia Allan-Goodwin secured eight of her own. Lauren Berridge provided additional support.
The Ammos’ win sends them through to September 3’s BNL Grand Final, while Torquay has an anxious wait to see who they face off with next Saturday between Ocean Grove and Drysdale.
