ON WEDNESDAY, March 14, the men played Par. The A Grade winner was David Lewis with +5, while Kent Taylor finished runner-up with +4. The B Grade Winner was Joh Prince with the day’s best score of +9, from runner-up Steven Mitchell who scored +5. The C Grade winner was Paul Johnstone with +7. Chris Bird finished runner-up with +5. The Senior Par event winner was Alan Taylor with -1. Ball rundown to +3 on a countback. NTPs: 3rd David Calvert, 6th Barry Coleman, 13th Barry Mason and Jackpot 16th James Maffett.

On Thursday, March 15, the women played Par. The A Grade winner was Janet Coombes with square on a countback from runner-up Prue Moodie who also finished square. The B Grade winner was Veronica Shaw with the day’s best score +5, from runner-up Sue Gell on +2, on a countback. The C Grade Winner was Liz Burgess with +3. Heather Nancarrow finished runner-up with +1. Ball rundown to square on a countback. NTPs: 3rd Barb Hinton, 6th Jill Emerson, Jackpot 13th Sue McGibbony and 16th Jenny Inman.

On Saturday, March 17, the Men and Women played Par, in conjunction with the 2nd round of the Men’s Captains Cup. The Men’s A Grade winner was Tom Steven with +4, while Damian Withers finished runner-up with +3, on a countback. The B Grade winner was Ian Treloar with +7 from runner-up Peter Jillard with +4, on a countback. Michael Cariss won C Grade with +6 from Brian Virtue who finished runner-up with +4. Ball rundown to +2 on countback. Women’s Winner Barbara Howlett with -1. Ball rundown to -1. NTPs: 3rd Gary Tierney, 6th David Lewis, 13th John Smart and Jackpot 16th David McLaren, who played the perfect shot to record a hole in one! Congratulations David. After Round 2 of the Men’s Captain’s Cup (Best two of three rounds), Colin Jarratt has the lead with +6, while Michael Cariss, Peter Jillard, Anthony Ivelja, Peter Malone and Jeremy Roberge are joint second on +4. The final round is this Saturday.

On Sunday, March 18, men’s and women’s stableford was played in windy conditions. The Men’s winner was Jeff Harding with 38 points. Ball rundown to 38 points. The women’s winner was Jane Cotter with 24 points. Ball rundown to 24 points. NTPs: 3rd John Somerset, 6th Paul Taylor, 13th Anthony Hicks and Jackpot 16th Steven Hurwitz.

Our Women’s Otway Pennant team had a narrow 3/2 win over Apollo Bay at Lorne on Friday March 16 and sits third on the ladder. The Men’s Division 2 pennant team started their season on Sunday March 18, with a 5.5 to 1.5 loss against Queens Park and will be looking to bounce back this Sunday.

The club’s next dinner and show is on Saturday April 14 and features a tribute to Johnny Cash, so get your black clothes ready and book a table today. Good golfing.
