Anglesea Golf Club – December 14, 2017

ON WEDNESDAY December 6, the Men played a Combined Par event, with a few friendships formed and a few broken.

The winners were Les Cooper and John Somerset with a combined score of +7.

The runners-up were Geoff Lewtas and Peter Logan with +6, on a countback from 3rd placed Peter Jillard and David Hitchcock. Ball rundown to +4 on countback.

NTPs: 3rd Barry Walker, 6th John Somerset, 13th John Smith & 16th (Jackpot) Ian Burgess.

On Thursday December 7, the Women played Stableford, while our team of 11 players hosted Torquay Golf Club to contest the Joyce Graham Cup.

Captain Marg DeVries led our team beautifully and we were pleased to win the Cup.

In the Stableford event Suellen Eskrigge won A Grade with her score of 34 points, on a countback from runner-up Janet Coombes, also with 34 points.

Sue Caldwell won B Grade with 34 points, while Veronica Shaw finished runner-up with 33 points.

Jenny Inman won C Grade with 36 points while Jenny Kaye finished runner-up with 32 points.

Ball rundown to 32 points on countback. NTPs: 3rd Janet Coombes, 6th Judy Talbot, 13th Jessica Kelley, 16th Margot Parton.

Valda Connelly won the Gold Tee nine-hole competition with 19 points.

On Saturday December 9, the Men and Women played Stableford.

The Men’s A Grade Winner was Chris Duffield with 40 points, from runner-up Shane Thompson with 39 points.

The B Grade winner was Garry Beurteaux with 43 points from runner-up Geoff Matthews who had 39.

Wayne McIntyre won C Grade with 41 points from runner-up Colin Favre who scored 39 points. Ball rundown to 37 points on countback.

Women’s Winner Sue Bowler with 35 points. NTPs: 3rd Peter Atherden, 6th Paul Brennan, 13th Andrew Daffy and Jackpot 16th David Goldsmith.

Men’s and Women’s Stableford was played on Sunday December 10.

The Men’s winner was Toby Rynkiewicz with +7 while John Somerset finished runner-up with +4. Suellen Eskrigge won the Women’s competition with -1. NTPs: 6th Suellen Eskrigge, 13th Corey Normington 16th (Jackpot) Vida Brenner.
