Anglesea Golf Club – July 19, 2018

ON Wednesday July 1 the Men played Stableford. The Men’s A Grade winner was Hayden Smith with 37 points from runner-up Brent McDonald with 36 points. The B Grade winner was Don Gough with the day’s best score of 41 points, from runner-up, on a countback, Les Cooper who scored 36 points. The C Grade winner was Neil Daw with 39 points from runner-up Jim Marron with 37 points. Ball rundown to 34 points on a countback. NTPs: 3rd Les Cooper, 6th Rob Steven, 13th Roger Trevaskis and Jackpot 16th Mark Hannan. There were 12 birdie balls awarded.

On Thursday July 12, the women played Foursomes Stableford with the Doris Chambers Cup Qualifying in conjunction. The winners were Barb Croaker and Margaret DeVries with a score of 34 points, while Noelene Dumbrell and Barbara Cook finished runner-up with 32 points. Barb and Margaret shall represent Anglesea in the Doris Chambers Cup Final at Cranbourne and Sanctuary Lakes in October. Ball rundown to 34 points on countback. NTPs: 6th Sue Britnell, 13th Heather Jillard and 16th Jules Rolfe.

On Saturday July 14, the Men and Women played Stableford with the men contesting the first round of the President’s Trophy. The Men’s A Grade winner was Darren Turner with 40 points, on a countback from runner-up David Thomas who also scored 40 points. The B Grade winner was Uwe Morzinke with 39 points on a countback from runner-up Graham Rees who also returned 39 points. Tony Norman won C Grade with 39 points. Alan Smith finished runner-up with 37 points, on a countback. Ball rundown to 35 points on a countback. The Women’s winner was Veronica Shaw with 33 points. Ball rundown to 33 points. NTPs: 3rd Ben Nancarrow, 6th Peter Parfitt, 13th Suellen Eskrigge, and Jackpot 16th David Calvert. Allan Foster eagled the 8th hole to claim 14 balls from the eagles nest.

On Sunday July 15, a Men’s and Women’s Par event was played. The Men’s winner was John Smith with square on a countback from runner-up Harry Green also with square. Ball rundown to square on a countback. The Women’s winner was Jan Stewart with square. Ball rundown to square. NTPs: 3rd Ann Stokes, 6th Colin Jarratt, 13th Chris Totton and Jackpot 16th Anthony Ivelja.
