Anglesea Golf Club – November 16, 2017

ON WEDNESDAY November 8, the men played Stableford with some hot scoring. The A Grade winner was Sam McKenzie with 43 points from runner-up Derek Hardy who finished with 40 points.

The B Grade winner was Chucky Smith with 44 points while Graeme Callahan finished runner-up with 41. Graeme Mills won C Grade with 43 points from John Smith on 41 points. Ball rundown to 37 points on countback. Chucky Smith eagled both the 1st and 18th holes – not a bad way to start and finish a round!

On Thursday November 9, the second round of the Women’s Club Championships took place. Vida Brenner won A Grade with her score of 74 net, while Anne Stokes finished runner-up with 77 net on a countback. Lorraine Elliott won B Grade with 78 net, on a countback from Lyn James also on 78 net. Lesley McMaster won C Grade with 73 net while Dianne Williams finished runner up with 76 net. Anne Stokes won the putting competition with 30 putts. Best Gross of the Day – Prue Moodie 90. After two rounds Roberta Lockyer leads the Championships with a score of 171, with Prue Moodie in 2nd place on 179. Barb Croaker is leading B Grade with her score of 193, from Marg DeVries in 2nd place on 199. Lesley Mcmaster leads C Grade with her score of 215, from Jenny Inman on 227.

Stroke and the 2nd Round of the Men’s Club Championships was played on Saturday November 11. The Men’s A Grade Winner was Sam Horne with net 68, from runner-up Derek Hardy on net 71. The B Grade winner was Peter Parfitt with net 72 from runner-up Tom Leeds who had 74. Ray Shaw won C Grade with net 69 from runner-up Jeremy Roberge with net 72. Ball rundown to 76 on countback. Women’s Winner Barb Croaker net 76. Greg Davis had his eye in on the par 3s warming up with a nearest the pin on the 3rd before knocking in a hole one on the 13th! Congratulations Greg.

Mark Couzens has the lead in the Men’s Club Championships with his two round gross score of 153, followed by Derek Hardy on 155, Sam Horne 157 and Nigel Powers 158. Garry Beurteaux leads B Grade with a gross score of 181, from Keith Turner 182 and David McGuane, Kevin Friel and Geoff Lewtas all on 183. Jeremy Roberge and Colin Favre are joint leaders in C Grade on a score of 201, from Mike Grossman and Michael Preston on 203.

Please note that the final round of the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships shall be played Saturday November 18, with the top four gross scores in each grade allocated to seeded tee times. Members are encouraged to check their tee times prior to Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Stableford was played on Sunday November 12. The Men’s winner was David Griffiths with +2, from runner-up Pete Griffiths +1. Sue Caldwell won the Women’s competition with square, on a countback from Lesley McMaster. NTP’s: 3rd Sue Caldwell, 13th Sue Caldwell 16th (Jackpot) Lesley McMaster.
