Anglesea Golf Club – October 19, 2017

ON WEDNESDAY October 11, the Men played Big Hole Golf – Single Stableford in support of the McGrath Foundation. Thanks to all members who supported in their pink outfits – the fashions on the field was hotly contested! The A Grade Winner was Alan Foster with 41 points from runner-up Ian Treloar who finished with 38 points. The B Grade winner was Keith Turner with 42 points while Geoff Trethowan finished runner-up with 39 points. Graeme Mills took a real liking to the big holes and won C Grade with his impressive score of 46 points. Jim Whan finished runner-up with 40. Ball rundown to 37 points on countback. NTPs: 3rd Sam Benjamin, 6th Barry Coleman, 13th John Smith and 16th Bernie Dilger.

It was the Women’s turn to play big hole golf on Thursday October 12, a Par event in support of the McGrath Foundation. The course, proshop and clubhouse looked great in pink. The A Grade winner was Sue Bowler with +1, while Janet Coombes finished Runner-up with -1. Margot Paton won B Grade with +3, while Veronica Shaw finished runner-up with square. Biddy Tuohey won C Grade with +2 on a countback from runner-up Pam Ledgerd. Ball rundown to square on a countback. NTPs: 3rd Sue Bowler, 13th Julie Taylor, 16th Veronica Shaw. Thanks to Steve Lipovas and the Pro Shop team for organising the events and providing the prizes over the two days.

Stableford was played by the Men and Women on Saturday October 14 with the Men playing for their Monthly Medal. The Men’s A Grade Winner was Darren Turner with the day’s best score of 43 points (and even par round off his 7 handicap). Tony Speed finished runner-up with his score of 37 points. The B Grade winner was Mario Tutone with 38 points from runner-up James McLeod who had 37 points. David Griffiths won C Grade with 36 points from runner-up John Smith 34 points on a countback. Ball rundown to 34 points on countback; 17 birdie balls were awarded.

Women’s Winner Sue Bowler 34 points from runner-up Tracey Crawford 32 points. NTPs: 3rd John Ackland, 6th Keith Turner, 13th Chris Duffield and Jackpot 16th Charlie Reif.

Men’s and Women’s Par was played on Sunday October 15. Ray Shaw won the Men’s event with a score of -1 on a four-way countback. Milorad Gelic was runner-up with his score of -1, on a three-way countback . Barb Croaker won the Women’s competition with +2. NTPs: 3rd Jared Matheson, 6th Daryl Crilly, 13th Milorad Gelic 16th (Jackpot) Allan Spence.

The 63rd Annual Tournament starts on Sunday October 22 and concludes Sunday October 29 with a range of events. Members wishing to make late entries should contact the office as soon as possible.
