Before the Game with Gary Ablett Junior

The Torquay Tigers Football Club’s annual Before the Game event is returning on June 8.

Geelong Cats star Gary Ablett Junior will be the special guest this year as he talks about his time in the AFL.

Torquay Tigers’ committee member Tim Carson will interview Ablett as he discusses his childhood, football career, what he’s doing now and more.

“He’s really excited to come. Nothing’s off limits; we can talk about anything and everything,” Mr Carson said.

The event has been running for ten years, usually selling out with around 250 people attending and is one of the clubs’ major fundraisers for the year.

“It’s always a really good event and seems to be getting better and better every year.

“Wayne Carey was our first guest and it’s just grown traction ever since then.”

Along with the interview, memorabilia will also be auctioned off, including jumpers and items signed by both Garry Ablett Senior and Junior.

Previous speakers at the event have included Luke Hodge, Nigel Lappin, and Shane Crawford.

The event will take place at the Torquay Football Club social rooms from 12:30pm until 2pm.

Tickets are $70 each and include gate entry, speakers and finger food, with drinks at bar prices.
