Bourke wins Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am
PORTARLINGTON Golf Club hosted the ninth annual Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am on Tuesday last week.
Rory Bourke took victory in beautiful conditions. He was in superb form and finished with a score of 64, eight under par.
The quality was high all round, with half of the professional golfers shooting even par or better.
Portarlington Golf Club’s golf professional Matt Milne said the event was “going from strength to strength.” He also noted the Pro-Am’s positive influence beyond the fairways.
“It’s always a good thing to bring people to the local community and township of Portarlington.
“We always get an influx of new people coming and experiencing the area, which is not only good for the golf club, but also for the shop owners, retailers and accommodation.”
Tim Hart, Andrew Kelly and Alex Edge were Bourke’s closest competitors, with Edge hitting one of the two eagles of the day on the ninth hole. They all finished tied on 66 points.
Ocean Grove’s Neil Young led the field of amateur golfers win the Jason Barker Perpetual Trophy. He finished with 43 points on countback.
Portarlington local Jill Barker won the women’s category with 36 points, while fellow Portarlington golfer Stuart Anderson won the men’s category with 43.
