GEELONG will look for their first win of the AFLW season as they host the in-form Sydney tomorrow (Saturday, August 30) at GMHBA Stadium.

The Cats have dropped their first two games of the 2025 season, albeit against reigning premiers North Melbourne and finals hopefuls Adelaide, and sit 16th on the ladder.

Meanwhile, the Swans will travel to Kardinia Park in third place after winning their first two matches in dominant fashion.

While the Round 2 scoreboard reads that Adelaide won convincingly last weekend, the Cats led at each of the first three breaks, before giving up the only seven goals of the final quarter in a Crows onslaught.

This weekend proves crucial for Geelong’s hopes of returning to the finals in 2025, especially against a quality opposition in Sydney that had 28 scoring shots in Round 2.

Defence will be the key for the Cats, particularly whoever matches up on Swans superstar Chloe Molloy. Experienced key back Claudia Gunjaca, who has impressed with her intercept game to start the year, seems the most likely.

Molloy, who missed the majority of last season with an ACL injury, is coming off an AFLW record-tying seven goals last weekend and also leads the league in score involvements. Her impact must be limited to slow the scoring down.

The match will start at 3.05pm.
