THE Geelong Cats will look to continue their purring start to the 2025 AFL season against the St Kilda Saints on Saturday night (March 22).

Geelong is coming off a huge 78-point win over the Fremantle Dockers in their first match of the year at GMHBA Stadium.

In game one in the hoops, Bailey Smith showed off why he will be a weapon for the Cats in 2025.

Smith dominated play, amassing 32 possessions, seven clearances and kicked one goal.

The 24-year-old was given great assistance from backman turned ruck Sam De Koning, Jack Henry, Max Holmes and the much-improved Mitch Knevitt.

Cats supporters also got to witness Jeremy Cameron kick his 650th AFL goal.

Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield said he was very proud of his side.

“It was good. Feels like it’s been a really long preseason, but we were ready.

“I felt like we had three really good quarters of footy. We didn’t execute as we would have liked in that third quarter. It’s hard to stop [the momentum], but we arrested it.”

Geelong’s opponents this week in St Kilda were demolished by 65 points at the hands of the Adelaide Crows in Round 1.

Recent history suggests Geelong might have a game on their hands this weekend, having lost two of their past three clashes with the Saints.

Geelong was defeated by 18 points in the last matchup in Round 23, 2024.

The Cats vs Saints match begins at 7.35pm at Marvel Stadium and will be live on Foxtel and Kayo.
