SURF Coast Chargers’ men are on a roll in Big V Division 2 heading into the Easter break.

They defeated Melton 86-72 last weekend at Wurdi Baierr Stadium, securing their fourth win on the trot and second place on the ladder behind Sherbrooke.

Four players hit double digits with Bellarine Storm recruits Rohan Jarvie and Nathan Gronbeck among them.

Following the break, Surf Coast play Southern Peninsula away on Anzac Day (Friday, April 25) at 6.15pm before hosting Wallan on April 26 at 7.30pm.

Coach Dan Riches said the Chargers had a lot of weapons this season and were fine-tuning their rotations and defence.

He said the team’s defence had picked up in the past two games.

“We’ve got guys that are locked-in on how we want to play defence and what our standards are

“The best part is when we rotate guys in off the bench, we don’t go backwards with that, it increases.”

Meanwhile, the women’s team is fourth on the ladder with a 3-1 win-loss record in division 2.

Surf Coast lost to Gippsland United 79-70 at home on last weekend after winning their opening three encounters.

Captain Jess Scannell top-scored with 17 points and had eight rebounds.

They have a double-header with the Chargers’ men in round 5 with Southern Peninsula at 4pm on Anzac Day before welcoming Wallan at 5.30pm the next day.
