E. J. Whitten Foundation Charity Golf Day raising funds for men’s health
THE 12th E.J. Whitten Foundation Charity Golf Day, proudly supported by The Drain Man, will take place at the award-winning Portarlington Golf Club on February 21.
The event will attract 120 local and corporate golfers to the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula for a fun-filled day of golf that will also raise awareness of men’s health.
Initiated by Neil Petrie at Drysdale Carpet Court in 2009, the event has raised $110,000 to date. The money has been used to support men’s health and wellbeing in Australian communities.
Founder and executive director of the E.J. Whitten Foundation Ted Whitten said it was a fantastic day that was well supported every year.
This year’s event will contribute to the Foundations awareness programs, which is specifically aimed at the research and treatment of Prostate Cancer, a disease that kills 66 men a week in Australia.
Mr Whitten said the cause is a particularly important one.
“In everything the Foundation does, we aim to build awareness of men’s health and inspire men to take charge of their own individual health by commencing an annual health and prostate check up with their local GP upon reaching 50 years of age.”
As well playing for a good cause, participants will enjoy breakfast prepared by the local Lions Club from 7am, 18 holes of golf on a beautiful golf course, and then a hot buffet lunch prior to entertainment and presentations.
The event will also feature special guest speaker Sam Kekovich, who will entertain all attendees and will be the highlight of the luncheon after golf.
The Drain Man will once again be the major sponsor, having been a great supporter of the E. J. Whitten Foundation for many years.
Golfers and teams who want to enjoy a great day and support a similarly great cause should book as soon as possible.
