CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – August 1, 2019

As the days are just starting to get lighter earlier and the sun is going down a fraction later it is exciting times at Curlewis. Our wonderful members and visitors can see that the new 9^th green is starting to take shape! We think it will be one of our better holes once it’s all up and going. Some of members who hit the ball relatively low will have to approach the green with caution. Hopefully some timely sun will come through this week which will only help the new green and surrounds. As or members are waiting patiently hopefully it is not too far away from being in play!

Eagles: Tim Sells on July 14 and Ryan Mills on July 17 with a fabulous Hole-In-One. Both were scored on Saturday.

Sunday July 21 – Mixed Stableford – 28 Players.  New member Matthew Walkenhorst (+3) won by 2 with 37 from Michael Hutley (11) 35 C/B.

Monday July 22 – Men Stableford:  59 Players – High winds made scoring difficult. Cliff Wenlock (24) needed the C/B to win with 34 from Denis Penny (9). Women:  19 Players – Pat Malloch (16) had the round of the day with 36, winning by 3 from Pip Williams (16) 33.   Green Tees:  Graham Blood (36) 39. NTP:  8th – Denis Penny, 17^th – Graham Blood.   Golden Shot Winner on 17^th – John Board (1.15m & $69)

Tuesday July 23 – Women 9 Holes Stableford:  34 Players – Helen Hill was victorious with 18 on C/B from Grace MacNeill – Wallis.

Wednesday July 24 – Men 4BBB S’F Multiplier: – 120 Players.  Mark Holroyd & Harvey Webb teamed up well to score 70, winning by 9 from Doug Parkin & Greg Bishop C/B Geoff Goodwin & Les Port. NTP:   4th – Les Port, 8th – Mark Holroyd, 13^th – Matt Nyhoff, 17^th – And Golden Shot Winner – Mick Henderson (0.26m & $105).

Thursday July 25 – Women PAR – Green Tees: 41 Players – Karen Brodie (35) scored well with +5, leaving 2^nd place to Glenda Gannon (24) with +4. Women’s 9 Hole PAR: Margaret Fraser Square; Dale Burn -1. NTP:     4th –, Jenny Travers (Pizza on Madeley), 8th – Anne Clutterbuck, 13^th – Janice Humphries (Leura Park Estate), 17^th & Golden Shot Winner – Anne Collis (0.48m & $32).

Saturday July 27 – Men Stableford:  162 Players.   A) Andrew Smith (6) 38; Barry Jenner (7) 37. B) John Cuffe (13) 41 and Round of The Day; Peter Richmond (14) 37.  C) Darren Jones (22) 39; Darren Mounsey (30) 36. Women: 17 Players – Heather Bishop (16) 30; Pat Malloch (15) 29. NTP:     4th – Steve McNamara, 8th – Bryan Cairns, 13^th – Royce Vardy, 17^th & Golden Shot Winner – Ryan Mills, (Hole In One & $165).
