CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – April 18, 2019

WITH winter rapidly approaching, it’s great to see the golf course nice and green and in fantastic condition for play. It is also very exciting to see the renovations on course coming to fruition. The new green on the 9th hole looks like it will be a fantastic addition to the course and will be a favourite hole with our members.

Our Men’s and Women’s Pennant teams are all doing very well. We wish our veterans pennant team all the luck in their final Against Clifton Springs on Monday.

Monday April 8
Men Stableford: 65 Players – A) Glenn Brown (16) shot + 4 to win by one from Peter Mundy (16) + 3. B) Bob Craig (29) + 3; Sunny Choong (18) Sq. Countback.

Women: 19 Players – Vivian Harris (14) + 2 from Bernie Alsop (34) Sq. Countback. Green Tees: Graham Blood (36) + 3. NTP: 8th – Ross Hodges, 17th – and Golden Shot Winner – Tony Hewitt (1.39m and $67)

Tuesday April 9
Women 9 Holes PAR: 35 Players – Kate Blood pipped Jean Plummer on COUNTBACK with + 1.

Wednesday April 10
Men Stroke: – 135 Players. A) Glenn Hopgood (12) won by one with 66 from Dennis Biscan (12). B) Murray Chapman (13) went one better with 65 leaving Michael Hanley (16) in 2nd place with 66. C) John Pentland (24) also shot 66 with Barry Eeles (24) on 67. Green Tees: Ivor Chappell (25) 41; Alec Mitchell (31) 40. NTP: 4th – Geoff Fiddian, 8th – Will Johnston,
13th – Tim Ludowyk, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Paul Lazic (0.0m and $112).

Thursday April 11
Women Stableford: 53 Players – A) Jan Brown (23) 37 with Maxine Noske (17) close behind on 36. B) Barbara Forsyth (25) 38; Lyn Schofield (38) 37 countback. NTP: 4th – Elaine Barker, (Pizza On Madeley), 8th – Claire McKay, 13th – Anne Howard (Leura Park Estate), 17th and Golden Shot Winner – Therese Pierce ($47).

Saturday April 13
Men Stableford: 152 Players. Excellent weather again greeted us. A) Marty Chaffey (7) 40; Wayne Marendaz (6) 39. B) Neil
Patterson (15) 41; Ron Rigg (12) 40. C) Alex Traynor (27) had the round of the day with 42. Mark Bainbridge (17) followed him with 39. Women: 14 Players – Pat Malloch (15) won by 3 with 35 from Pam Roberts (16) 32. NTP: 4th – John Board, 8th – Les Port, 13th – Keiran Jones, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – Clem Powers, (1.64m and $155).
