CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – July 18, 2019

Another cold and wintery week has been and gone at Curlewis. Just as the rain seems to subside for a little while we get the wind at full force. Conditions were awfully tough for the majority of the week as this was reflected in the scoring. Any score that is close to handicap would prove not to be too far off the pace. Hopefully some nice weather is just around the corner. The golf club was lucky enough to host the annual Jack Donaldson district trophy on Sunday July 14. It was great to see such a wide range of clubs from the district represented. Despite tough conditions the local hero Greg Bishop playing off a 3 handicap shot an impressive round of 39 Stableford points! A big congratulations to Greg! He also scored himself a spot in the 2020 Victorian Open Proam at 13th Beach.

Sunday July 7 – Mixed Stableford – 14 Players. Winner was S Loftus (5) with 36 points and R/ up. C Henderson (4) 34 points.

Monday July 8 – Men Stableford: 79 Players– A Grade winner B Henkel (Scr) countback 37 points to J Reid (12) – B Grade winner A Burns (20) with 41 points and R/up D Howes (20) with 36 points. Women Stableford: 18 Players – Winner with a fine score of 38 Anni Jeffries (37) with R/up L McFarlane (24) countback 31 points. NTP: 8th – T Delahunty 188cm, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – P Lazic (168cm and $78).

Tuesday July 9 – Women 9 Holes Stroke: 33 Players – Winner K Fleming (21) Nett 34 and R/ up V White (18) with Nett 36.

Wednesday July 10 – Men PAR: – 126 Players. A Grade winner L Port (12) +3 and R/Up. R Riley (9) +1 countback – B Grade Winner B Bowers (19) and R/up I Lapsley (17) -1 countback – C Grade winner P Kelly (20) with Sq and R/up S Selvalingham (27) -1. NTP: 4th – C Browne 220 cm, 8th – G Burns 152 cm, 13th – S Nelson 530 cm, 17th – J DeVries 118 cm. And Golden Shot Winner – J DeVries (118 cm and $107).

Thursday July 11 – Women Stableford: 18 Players – Winner H Bishop (17) with 31 points and R/up. L Wright (19) 29 points. NTP: 8th – H Bishop, 13th – C Hughes (Leura Park Estate), 17th and Golden Shot Winner P Malloch ($18). Saturday July 13 – Men Stableford: 69 Players. A Grade winner B Henkel (Scr) with 33 points R/up C Bowers (2) 32 points. B Grade winner J
Salmon (13) with 33 points and R/up D Wright (12) 31 points countback. Women: Players – 0. NTP: 4th – S Seear 320 cm, 8th –M Maaser 136 cm, 13th – G Bishop 206 cm, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – P Meyer, (44 cm and $67).
