Curlewis Golf Club – July 26, 2018

WAS great to see full fields across the competition week at Curlewis. It was also the kick-off of our open Friday nine-hole competition! Perhaps some of the great scoring could be put down to members staying up late to watch the British Open! Brian Egan channelled his inner Jordan Spieth to shoot an impressive 43 points during our Monday Comp. I’m sure there will be some droopy eyelids on Monday morning with members staying up late to watch the final round!

Monday, July 16: Unfortunately, the nice weather enjoyed over the weekend didn’t last. Men’s Stableford – 64 Players. A) Peter Richmond (17) won with 40 over youngster Callum Stow (8) 39. B) ‘Lefty’ Brian Egan (21) shone with 43 with Paul Ryan (21) next best on 41.Women: Julie Flintoff (10) won by 3 with 33 from Elaine Cass (12) 30. NTP: 8th – Pat Malloch (2.44m), 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Howard Lonsdale (0.42m & $71)

Tuesday, July 17, Women 9 Holes Stableford, 21 Players – Val White 16 countback from Carmel Hughes. Men: 4 Players – Peter Weire 16; Matt Nyhoff 15.

Wednesday, July 18: Men Stableford Green Tees: 122 Players A) David Boddy (9) won by 2 with 42 from Bryan Cairns (12) 40. B) Stan Stewart (16) won on countback with 39 from Geoff Fiddian (15). C) Ron Barker (23) had the round of the day with 43, outgunning Ike Kulbars (20) on 41. NTP: 4th – David Harris (2.46m), 8th – James Allchin (2m), 13th – Ted Murrant (1.9m), 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Bryan Cairns (1.2m & $104).

Thursday, July 19, Women 4BBB S/F, 54 players – Estelle Steele & Grace MacNeill-Wallis needed the countback to separate them from Norah Cuffe and Lorraine Wright with 40.

NTP: 4th – Louise Shannon (Pizza On Madeley), 8th – Janice Humphries, 13th – Bernadette Thomas (Leura Park Estate), 17th – Janice Humphries, Golden Shot Winner on 17th – Kaye Kelly ($45).

Friday, July 20, Mixed Stableford 9 Holes: Jeff Hughes 16; Peter Mundy 14.

Saturday, July 21, Mixed 4BBB S/F, 175 Players: Pleasant conditions saw John Fellows and Scott Mullen chalk up 50 points but they needed the countback to win from Josh Wright & Ryan Parkinson. Next best were Aaron Jervies and Dylan Kukanovski on 47. Women, 20 Players: Denise ,Kelly and Anne Davey won by 2 with 40 from Jenny Travers and Bernadette Thomas 38. NTP: 4th – Bernie Ryan (1.58m), 8th – Joe Geary (0.35m), 13th – Josh Vrbovski (0.63m), 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Barry Felthouse (2.04m and $175).
