CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – June 27, 2019

ANOTHER rain-soaked week at Curlewis! I am sure all of our members and guests are happy the course has received some much-needed rain but now it is cutting into their weekly golf! The course is holding up in fantastic condition despite all of
the rain! Hopefully some nice weather is around the corner so both our members and guests are able to enjoy a full round of golf in nice weather without interruption. Despite the course playing longer due to the conditions we have seen some very impressive scoring the past week:

Eagles: Royce Vardy with a magnificent Hole- In-One on the 4th on Sunday and Tom Jefferies on the 14th on Wednesday.

Sunday June 16 – Mixed Stableford 33 Players. Andrew Green (15) shone with 43 leaving Hayden Butterworth (8) in 2nd place with 39.

Monday June 17 – Men Stableford: 73 Players A) Sam Coe (12) shot 40 with John Board (13) 2 behind on 38. B) Rod Kerger (20) also shot 38 to win by one from David Slimmon (18). Women: 27 Players – Lorraine McFarlane (25) nudged out Gill Morrison (11) on countback with 35. NTP: 8th – Greg Taylor, 17th – Jenny Travers. Golden Shot Winner on 17th – Denise Kelly ($85).

Tuesday June 18 – Women 9 Holes Stroke: 18 Players – Rosie Slimmon won narrowly with 33 from Leila Stecher on 34.

Wednesday June 19 – Men Stableford Green Tees: 123 Players. More of the wet stuff made the shorter Green Tee course a tad more difficult! A) Alan Bartle (8) shone with 44, winning by 4 from Bernie Den Besten (8) 40. B) Glenn Burns (12) scored 42, 2 ahead of Bryan Cairns (12) on 40. C) Brian Shaw (17) enjoyed a one point win with 40 over Geoff Stribley (22). NTP: 4th – Tim Ludowyk, 8th – Peter Cannon, 13th – Peter Noonan, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Peter Richmond (1.2m and $104).

Thursday June 20 – Women Stableford: Players – More rain last night and during the day saw no play at all.

Friday June 21 – Open Stableford: Only 3 players graced the weather conditions with Matt Marles (15) the best with 29.

Saturday June 22 – Men 4BBB Stroke – Qualifying Round of C.H.Malpas Trophy: 135 Players. Tim Dwyer and Alex Traynor combined very well for 62 leaving 2nd place to John and David Board with 64. #rd placing went to Tyrone and Shaun Soltesz with 65 countback. Women Stableford: 8 Players – Heather Bishop (17) won by one with 30 from Karen Egan (17). NTP: 4th – Ernie O’Neill, 8th – Cameron Burn, 13th – Daniel Wright, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – Peter Meyer, (1.16m & $137).
