CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – May 02, 2019

Another great week has come and gone at windy Curlewis. It was great to see so many members and visitors on course and making the most of our driving range facilities during the Easter period.

We think the majority of our members took a mini holiday over the Easter and Anzac Day holidays as we saw strong member competition fields throughout the past week.

Throughout the school holiday period it was great to see so many juniors around the golf club and driving range with the MyGolf school holiday junior program. Now that school term 2 has started back up, it will be great to welcome many new and familiar faces with the Sunday MyGolf clinic that runs through the school term. Eagles: None this week!

Sunday April 21 – Mixed – 17 Players. Phil Cumming (20) 37; Wally Loats (21) 34.

Monday April 22 – Men Stableford: 86 Players –A) Matt Wight (11) won on countback with 39 from Andrew Salvino (9). B) Rob Jackson (20) enjoyed the fantastic conditions to score 46 with Mark Bainbridge (17) next best on 42. Green Tees: John Quirk (21) 40. Women: 17 Players – Jenny Travers (16) won by 1 with 37 from Pam Arklay (27) 36.

NTP: 8th – Barb Sims, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Cameron Tudor (0.92m and $88)

Tuesday April 23 – Women 9 Holes Stableford: 43 Players – Jan Chandler enjoyed the conditions to chalk up 22 with Estelle Steele next best on 20 countback.

Wednesday April 24 – Men PAR: – 160 Players. A) Colin Gannon (6) won on COUNTBACK with + 3 from Mark Lazarus (11). B) Craig Robinson (17) had the round of the day with + 4. Peter Mackay (18) followed with + 3. C) Darryl Luttrell (29) also needed the COUNTBACK to separate him from Richard Hastings (25), with both scoring + 3. Green Tees: John Quirk (21) + 3 countback.

NTP: 4th – Doug Parkin, 8th – Wayne Marendaz, 13th – Sam Loftus, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Damian Myers (0.36m and $134).

Thursday April 25 – Women Stableford: 39 Players – A) Jenny Travers (16) 34 countback from Gael Charman (10). B) Jean Plummer (44) won by 4 with 41 from Jan Brown (23) 37.

Men: 44 Players – Tim Wilson (12 – RACV Cape Schanck) 39 countback from Steve McNamara (4). NTP: 8th – Royce Vardy, 17th – Ryan Mills, Golden Shot 17th – Helen Chappell ($75).

Saturday April 27 – Mixed Irish 4B: 165 Players. Jed Modini (26), Brett Modini (21), Ken Vogan (21) and Kim Littras (20) were victorious with 89. Keiran Jones (13), Michael Maaser (12), Andrew McQuinn (12) and Mick Villeda (12) were only one behind on 88 countback.

NTP: 4th – John Donlen, 8th – Peter Mackay, 13th – Andrew McQuinn, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – David Board (0.93m and $156).
