CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB – May 23, 2019

ANOTHER fantastic week of golf is in the books at Curlewis. The course is in sensational condition after some in previous weeks. The scoring from our member competitions this week was very impressive with scores in the low nett 60’s getting the job done. If you have nothing on next Sunday come down to the golf course and have a look at tomorrow’s future stars! Curlewis Golf Club is privileged to host an annual Golf Victoria junior event. Sunday May 12 – Mixed Stableford – 16 players. Yet another guest from RACV Cape Schanck took the honours. Matthew Cassidy (21) shot 41 leaving Joe Geary (10) in 2nd with 39.

Monday May 13 – Men Stableford: 64 players – Rick Lowe (9) won by one with 41 from Bob Brodie (18) on 40. Women: 29 players – Elaine Barker (23) won a 3-Way countback from Maxine Noske (17) and Julie Flintoff (9) with 36. NTP: 8th – Sunny Choong, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Ian Wong (2.82m and $77).

Tuesday May 14 – Women 9 Holes Stableford: 42 players – Jean Cowley had the bragging rights with 20 from Anne Clutterbuck 19.

Wednesday May 15 – Men Stroke Blue Tees; Qualifying Round of Brendan Patterson Trophy: 144 Players. Great Autumn conditions prevailed once more. A Grade went to Tony Hewitt (10) on countback from Jackson Ristevski (7). Peter Mundy (16) had a day to remember with 64. Mitch Grinter (18) was close behind on 65. Phillip Curtain (22) won C Grade on countback with 67 from Ross Hodges (23). Green Tees: Alec Mitchell shone with 46. NTP: 4th – Les Port, 8th – Doug Parkin, 13th – Terry Lamb, 17th – And Golden Shot Winner – Stephen Broom (0.96m and $130).

Thursday May 16 – Women Stroke: Renee Austin Brooch: 54 players – A) Elaine Cass (12) won by 2 with 72 from Carmel Hughes (23). B) Bette Collings (28) impressed all with 67, edging out Bernie Alsop (34) 69. 9 Holes Stableford Comp: 7 Players. Kay Bowman 19. NTP: 4th Sheryl Mackie 8th – Wendy Tottenham, 13th Louise Shannon, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – Vicki Carnie ($47).

Saturday May 18 – Men PAR: 156 players. A) Tim Singleton (7) had a healthy +4 just outgunning Chris Henderson (5) on +3. B) Garry Jones (16) was even better with +6 from another great score of +5 from Sam Coe (13). C) Alan Burton (34) showed he was no slouch either with +6 and the round of the day on C/B, fending off Brian Egan (23) on +4. Women PAR: 8 Players – Pat Malloch (16) -1 C/B from Jay Magee. (14). NTP: 4th – Russell Hawken, 8th – Brian Halfpenny, 13th – Neil Patterson, 17th and Golden Shot Winner – Ben Zanghi, (2.3m and $147).
