Every club a chance to play GCA1 finals

January 29, 2026 BY

AFTER extreme heat forced all GCA1 cricket to be cancelled last weekend, clubs now turn their attention to a crucial Round 12 as the pointy end of the season approaches.

With just three rounds to play, two matches split second and seventh, and every club technically still has a chance to play finals.

St Peter’s will host South Barwon at Herne Hill Reserve in a fourth versus fifth clash between two sides that have impressed to date.

The Saints have lost two of their past three and will look to recapture their form from earlier in the season, while the Swans have endured two consecutive tight losses against higher ranked sides.

North Geelong will take on Grovedale at home, and can extend their two-match lead atop the ladder with a win.

The Tigers have jumped into third spot and will look to make it three straight wins if they can upset the reigning premiers.

East Belmont are set to take on St Joseph’s, which looks set to be an exciting battle between two sides capable of making high scores with the bat.

The Lions are search for a third straight victory, while Joeys will be desperate to snap a two-match losing streak and move off seventh spot on the ladder.

Newtown & Chilwell will to host Lara at Queens Park Reserve, looking to break two straight losses and finish their season strong.

The Two Blues sit on the bottom of the ladder after making last season’s grand final and need everything to go right to sneak into the finals.

The Cats will look to build on a strong win over St Peter’s in Round 10 and make a late finals push after moving into the top GCA division this season.

In the GCA2, Highton will host Torquay, Bell Park will host Alexander Thomson, Geelong West will host Geelong City and Bell Post Hill will host Leopold.
