Exceptional recipients for the 2024 Surf Industry Honours Night announced
THE Surf and Boardsports Industry Association (SBIA) board is excited to reveal its honourees for the highly anticipated 2024 Surf Industry Honours Night.
In November, the board called on members for nominations for the three categories, and received some amazing responses.
Nominees were debated by the SBIA Board over a number of meetings, and the SBIA is now stoked to share the 2024 Surf Industry Honourees that will be celebrated in true style in Torquay in March.
The honourees are:
Surfer of the Year – Ethan Ewing:
In recognition of his 2023 WSL campaign; which included injury setbacks, perseverance and sheer grit as well as his outstanding contributions to the sport, Ethan Ewing is our Surfer of the Year
Environmental and Social Impact – SurfAid: For their commitment to improving the health, well-being and resilience of remote communities connected to surfing throughout Indonesia and the Solomon Islands. SurfAid stands tall as the recipient in this category.
Service to the Industry – Geoff Backshall: A true industry stalwart and a foundation SBIA brand board member. Geoff’s dedication, influence and significant contributions to the surfing industry have earned him the prestigious Service to the Industry Award.
The decision-making process was tough, with several outstanding nominations received across the three categories.
However, these three recipients continually rose to the top, their names echoing as shining examples of excellence within the surfing community.
The SBIA invites you to join in celebrating these remarkable honourees. This promises to be a night filled with camaraderie, goodwill and the true stoke that unites the surfing community.
The Surf Industry Honours Night will be held at The Sands Resort, Torquay on March 27 from 6pm onwards.
Tickets are $285 (member pricing) or $340 (non-member pricing), or $2,750 for a table of 10.
