GEELONG Falcons have bowed out of the 2025 Coates Talent League finals after going down to Gippsland Power in a Quarter Final on Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons led at each of the first three quarter breaks before the Power piled on four goals to one in the last term to secure the 8.11 (59) to 7.9 (51) victory and a Preliminary Final spot.

Spearhead Dan Lowther (Lara) led the way for Geelong, kicking a goal from his 24 disposals and also managing 12 hit outs in the ruck.

Draft hopefuls Jesse Mellor (Geelong West) and Josh Lindsay (Newtown & Chilwell) did their stocks no harm, with Mellor kicking two goals from 15 touches, and Lindsay racking up 21 possessions himself.

Angus Ford (Barwon Heads) also kicked 1.2 from 14 touches and also laid seven tackles.

Power key tall Jonah Walker kicked two goals from 20 touches, while potential top five pick Willem Duursma also kicked two goals and had 15 disposals.

The Falcons had an impressive finals campaign despite finishing 12th with a 7-8 record, with Sunday’s loss coming after a thrilling win over Bendigo Pioneers in the wildcard round.

Meanwhile, Gippsland now face powerhouse Sandringham Dragons in a Preliminary Final at Casey Fields tomorrow (Saturday, September 13).
