THE program for the Festival of Sport has been revealed, with more than 30 free sports, activities and competitions to be staged throughout the Kardinia Park precinct.
To be held over October 6 and 7, participants can try their hand at any number of a big line-up of sports, including baseball, basketball, cricket, croquet, digital sports, disc golf, fencing, a giant obstacle course, golf, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, orienteering, parkour, roller derby, stand up paddleboarding at the Kardinia Aquatic Centre, supercross, table tennis, tai chi, and many more.
Health and wellness expert Michelle Bridges will lead a 45-minute exercise session on October 6, followed by a Q&A.
“The workout that I’m going to do will be fun, full of laughs, enjoyment and lots of activity,” she said.
“Everyone can do it, so come one, come all – we’re going to have a great time!”
On the same day, the Geelong Cats will hold a special never seen before heritage exhibition of memorabilia in the Deakin Cats Community Centre, alongside one-hour history walks (book online at trybookings.com.au) and tours of the Charles Brownlow Stand.
It will be a morning of girl power on October 7, with the Girls Take Over GMHBA Stadium session to be a footy clinic for women of all ages and abilities with players from the AFLW. This will be followed by three workshops in the Deakin Cats Community Centre, featuring Paralympic gold medallist Kelly Cartwright, Geelong Cats nutritionist Dominique Condo, and former Australian women’s cricket team captain Belinda Clark.
There will also be a stage full of music and entertainment across both days, including The Mik Maks, The Sweethearts, Cheer Geelong, Aerosport Kids Aerobics, and One Spirit African Drumming.
