Final aggregate approaches

Torquay Boardriders Club thanks its sponsors.

IT’S not long now until the final aggregate of the Torquay Boardriders Club senior season. This one is going to be the most important yet as for the first time in a few years the ratings win will come down to the last competition of the year.

At the top of the rankings as it stands is Open Men’s veteran Harry Mann. With a win and a few small results, Mann’s grasp on the title is not quite as tight as he would like.

Mann is currently sitting on 2665 points, being chased by Indi White (2525 points), John Robertson (2500) and Cahill Bell Warren (2400). TBC club president Bell Warren is currently in fourth and needs a good result to claim his unprecedented sixth Open title.

Bell Warren said he was looking forward to the final battle for the title. “It’s always more fun having scenarios play out at the end of the year and with some new faces pushing for the end of year title, it’s great for the club.”

The TBC however will have to wait and see who comes out on top of their club battle, as all of their attention is currently fixated on the next Teams Titles event on September 9.

It’s been a big year for TBC in the teams events. After receiving a wildcard into the Australian Boardriders Battle event at Newcastle, the TBC went on to finish an overall sixth out of 25 clubs. This is the highest ever placing for a Victorian boardriders club.

It didn’t stop there however for the TBC, finishing fourth in the national final of the Sailor Jerry surf tag event at D’Bah.

With some old and young faces including Mann, Bell Warren, Troy Brooks, Nic Muscroft, Todd Rosewall, Cody Robinson, Tom Wright, India Robinson, Xavier Huxtable and Jack Perry rotating through as the core nucleus of the team’s make up, it is a very strong team on paper.

New appointed captain/coach Jack Perry felt it’s been a long time since TBC had been so solid.

“The history of the TBC teams has always been really strong. However we never really did that well on a national level. It’s exciting now to see our team challenge the bigger clubs like Snapper and North Narrabeen. It was always going to happen when you have a number of Australian champs in the team. Both India and Xav are top juniors in country and it pushes us old blokes as well!” Perry said.

The Teams Titles event will be held on September 9 at Bells Beach. Be sure to head down and cheer on the local team!
