It may have been cold and windy for recent social bowls competitors on Mondays and Saturdays at Anglesea, but there are still plenty of hardy bowlers braving the elements.

Congratulations to recent winners: John Mayne, Graham Marks, Ken Bunning, Terry Hope, Ron Murray, Geoff Lydom, Mat Stone and Max Horne.

Winter has been warmed up inside the new clubhouse with the help of Ben Coyle and Peter Austin, who are delivering a big lift to Friday night socials by giving the kitchen a work-out with excellent fare available to members and visitors. This will become a regular feature this season.

Anglesea’s new clubrooms are available for community and private functions, with catering available. Phone or email enquiries and bookings are welcome.

The official Opening Day for the forthcoming season will be Saturday September 8, with dinner that evening in the clubrooms.

As members start to return from warmer climates they will need to organise electronic swipe cards for clubroom access. They will also need to get in some practice for Pennant, which starts in October, and they will need to make sure selectors know they are available. Anglesea is entering three sides in the Geelong Bowls Region’s Saturday and Tuesday Pennant competitions.

BOWLS SCHEDULE
Anyone wanting to try bowls is most welcome to contact the Club.

Regular Bowls: Mondays (12.30pm) and Saturdays (12.30pm). Match is open for entries on the day until 11.00am by noticeboard entry, phone or email.

Casual Bowls: Open for members anytime; public bookings welcome.

Friday Social: Afternoon Rollup. Happy Hour and raffle from 5pm.
