From the Mat – November 08, 2018

November 8, 2018 BY

ANGLESEA’S top sides are performing well in the Saturday and Midweek Pennant competitions.

The decision to enter an additional side in each has been well supported by members, giving new bowlers a chance to play some serious competition bowls.

Despite disruption due to inclement weather, the (Great Ocean Properties) Twilight Social League again saw 22 teams take to the rinks on Wednesday evening, with Colin Watson, John Anson and Trevor Taylor taking Round 2 honours.

Paula Fowler from Great Ocean Properties gave a great auctioneering performance to help the Lions Club raise funds for drought relief, and Mark Griffen and Anna Plecic bowled their way to individual awards.

Congratulations to Graeme Mathias, Veterans Singles Champion 2018/19, and to recent Social Bowls winners: Peter Gordon, Corrie Hooiveld, Angelo Kambouris, Rick Sheehan, Gerard Morrison, Sue Rolls and Barry Nancarrow.

Round 2 of the Sovereign Financial Monthly Triples is on Monday 12th November. Directors Charity Day is on Saturday 17th (sponsored by Great Ocean Road Resort) and the regular Monday Social Bowls Jackpot remains uncollected and is heading for $300.

Anglesea Community Network will continue its monthly Monday Movie afternoon in January.
