GEELONG’S AFLW side will be without one of their key rucks for at least the next season.

Geelong has moved 182cm ruck Olivia Fuller to its inactive list for the 2024 AFLW Season, with the three-season player pursuing a career outside of football as a Royal Australian Air Force firefighter.

The club’s assistant general manager of football Brett Johnson said the Cats were in full support of Fuller’s decision.

“Liv has been an invaluable presence in our AFLW program over the past three years, and we fully respect and stand by her decision to pursue a significant new chapter in her life outside of football.

“We extend our heartfelt best wishes to Liv as she ventures into her new career path, and she will forever remain a cherished member of the Cats family.”

The Cats have an open spot on their Primary List ahead of the 2024 season as a result of Fuller’s move to the inactive list.

The 2024 AFLW pre-season begins in just over a week’s time on June 3, while the home-and-away season is unofficially slated to begin on the last weekend in August.

Fuller only played a pair of AFL games in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury to the medial ligament in her right knee at training.
