Geelong cricketers to represent their state
SEVEN Geelong cricketers have been selected to represent Victoria at the U/16 Female 2024-25 National Championships.
Chloe Sewell, Sarah Burton, Grace Potter, Ally Croft, Eve Righetti and Annie Taylor will play for Victoria Country, while star batter Gurveer Padam will play for Vic Metro.
The tournament will be held in Ballarat next year from January 6 to January 13.
Geelong Cricket Club president Jenny Decker said the players selection in their respective squads is attributable to the club’s efforts in building junior development.
“Affectionately known as the “rat pack” to our coaching team, this young group of girls are the perfect mix of natural talent that has met a dedicated development program,
“The club made the decision a number of years ago to invest heavily into our academy and development programs, it’s great to see the reward for effort for our coaches, players and support team.”
She said the club has a lofty goal of becoming the best Premier Cricket Club in Australia one day and hopes the “rat pack” can be part of it.
“With the strength of talent in our current playing squads, development teams and our coaching group, we are well on our way.”
